On Friday, June 10th, 2011 Rotary Central presented Sarah Potkins of Cayman Prep and High School the Literary Awardfor her short story entitled “An untouched paradise.”

The Rotary Central Literary Award was presented today to Sarah Potkins of Cayman Prep and High School. Sarah won this award for her short story entitled “An untouched paradise.” We have requested copies of the short story. Two books of the NCFA 25th Anniversary were presented as well.

Rotary Central has been presenting this award for many years spearheaded by PP Fred Speirs who wanted to inspire our youth to go beyond simply reading to thus encouraging them to enhance and bring out their creative talents. Hence the creation of the Rotary Central Literary Award. The focus over the years has been on writing short stories of Caymanian theme/culture, both past and present. The big trophy is presented to the winning school and a smaller individual one presented to the winning student to take home.
