Rotary Central Celebrates 22 Years

Rotary Central celebrated 22 years of serving the community, the country, Rotary District 7020 and Rotary International on Saturday evening, October 25^th. Our very own Carl Brown was MC for the evening and members were treated to 'thoughts' over the years from some of our Past Presidents - Mario Ebanks, Dave Phipps, Peter Schmidt - and from our current President, Neville Smith.  Ms Aniki Brown, representing the Rotaract Blue Club, entertained us with her rendition of a true story in verse, celebrating her Cayman heritage. We were also joined by Assistant District Governor, Ray Whittaker; President Derek Haines form the Grand Cayman Club and Karen Barnett, President of the Cayman Kiwanis Club. A table-top quiz kept everyone talking  between presentations and a great time was had by all. Club Services Director, Susie Bayles, is to be congratulated for all her hard work in organizing the event which was held at the Ristorante Ragazzi in Buckingham Square.

During its 22 years, The Rotary Club of Grand Cayman Central has been proactive in developing projects and initiatives which have benefited all sectors of the community. Some of these are now annual events like "Take-a-Kid Fishing'; the Science Fair; the Junior Achievement Programme, which is now in its 17^th year; the bus shelter programme - 10 new shelters are in the process of being built at strategic points around the island; and the biggest fundraiser of the year - the Music Extravaganza.

Watch out for ticket sellers for this fabulous event which will be held at the Reef Grill at the Royal Palms on November 29^th from 7.30pm - Midnight. The ticket, which costs $25 is also your entry to the great prize draw with a first prize of $40,000. 10 further prizes of $1,000 are also available. Our sellers will be outside local supermarkets over the next few weeks. Please support this event which provides the funds for all our community and  humanitarian projects.
