Junior Achievement Banquet
This year's Junior Achievement programme came to a close with the annual awards banquet on Saturday May 16th. This glittering occasion was held in the Mariott Ballroom and representatives of all 12 companies were there. The company programme is designed to help young people appreciate and better understand the role of business in our society. This is done with the support and guidance of volunteer advisors from the local business community. The company programme provides basic economics education through the organising and operating of a business enterprise.
Awards are given for the best male and female Achievers of the Year; the best President and Vice Presidents of Finance, Marketiing, Human Resources, Production and Sales; the Product of the Year and the Company of the Year. The best 8 achievers are also chosen to attend the jaX conference in Canada in August. Following an inspirational talk by guest speaker Mr Elry Bryan, this year's recipient of the the Young Caymanian Leadership Award, and amidst great excitement and anticipation, the awards were made by representatives of the businesses and organisations that sponsored each prize. These included the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman, Seaboard Marine, Baraud International, Electra-Tech Services Ltd, Chanmber of Commerce and the Professioanl and Business Women's Club.
The winners of the Product of the year were "AdDo", sponsored by dms Organisation Ltd, whose literacy bags proved a great success and contributed to the future success of the children of Cayman. The Company of the Year award went to "Sugar Rush", also sponsored by dms Organisation Ltd, whose product was bags of candies for any occasion. Congratulations to all.
