Thanks to the recent generosity of Rotary Central, George Town Primary School was the recipient of the Handwriting without Tears (HWT) programme. Seen here are Rotary Past-Presidents Sandy McFarlane and Fred Speirs with Occupational Therapist, Kimberley Vauden.

Ms Vauden said that Handwriting Without Tears provides resources to teach all levels of hand-writing, from pre-writing through cursive. It is her hope that once the programme has been successfully implemented in Reception and Year 1 classes, the Department of Education Services will see fit to furbish higher years with the materials to continue the use of HWT throughout all years in primary school in which handwriting is taught.

As school Principal Ms. Martin commented, "Rotary Central has been one of our best supporters over the years. Thanks to their support in purchasing the Handwriting Without Tears programme, our Year 1 students will be off to a great start next academic year!"

Ms McFarlane noted that Rotary Central, through its fundraising activities, is able to meet its goals of supporting education and other youth-related activities.  "We were pleased to be able to assist the school and hope that the children will benefit from the programme." she said.
