Tribute from Errol C. Alberga Jr. District Governor Rotary International- District 7020
The Rotarians of District 7020, Leonie and I are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of PP Fred Spiers, who lived his life in the service of others in so many ways. He took very seriously, the motto of our beloved organization; "Service above Self", as he served others not only in the Cayman Islands, but way beyond its shores through his work and contributions. His life reflected in a true and practical way our "Four Way Test". His was a life which demonstrated: the pleasure of working, the dignity of simplicity, the worth of character, the power of kindness, the influence of example, the virtue of patience and the obligation of duty. Leonie and I have fond memories of his visit to our home in Jamaica and the pleasant and gracious greeting he extended to us, only recently, when we were in the Cayman Islands in July. We salute this wonderful servant, who was faithful to his calling and who has run the race and has now finished the course. May his example continue to inspire us. We share your sorrow and the common memory of his goodness and love and as a people of hope we take comfort in the knowledge that our Rotarian Brother is now peacefully at rest. To his wife, his daughters, family, friends and the Rotary family in the Cayman Islands we express our sincere condolence as you grapple with the impact of this great loss.
