Committee Description & Terms of Reference
Purpose
The Vocational Service Committee promotes high ethical standards in business and professions, recognises the worthiness of all useful occupations, and encourages members to use their professional skills in service to others. It connects members' vocations to Rotary's mission and the community's needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote ethical standards and integrity in business and professional life.
- Recognise and celebrate vocational excellence in the community.
- Encourage members to apply their professional skills in service projects.
- Support career mentoring, vocational training, and skills development.
- Highlight the dignity of all useful occupations through club programs.
- Connect members' professions to opportunities for community benefit.
Typical Activities
- Organising vocational talks and classification presentations at meetings.
- Running vocational awards or recognition programs.
- Coordinating mentoring or career-readiness initiatives.
- Promoting the Four-Way Test and ethical practice.
Composition
Led by the Vocational Service Director, supported by members representing diverse professions. Coordinates with the Young Leaders, Service Projects, and Membership committees.
Coordination & Reporting
- Board of Directors: reports on vocational programs.
- Young Leaders Committee: partners on mentoring and career programs.
- Service Projects Committee: channels professional skills into projects.
- Membership Committee: supports classification and recruitment.
