Committee Description & Terms of Reference
Purpose
The Young Leaders Contact (New Generations) leads the club's work with young people — developing leadership, supporting youth programs, and fostering the next generation of community leaders and Rotarians. This avenue recognises the positive change created by youth and young adults through leadership development, service, and exchange.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and support youth-focused programs and leadership opportunities.
- Coordinate Rotary youth programs such as Interact, Rotaract, RYLA, and Youth Exchange where applicable.
- Engage young people in the club's service projects.
- Build pathways for young adults toward Rotary membership.
- Ensure appropriate youth protection policies and safeguards are followed.
- Promote leadership development and mentoring for young people.
Typical Activities
- Sponsoring or supporting Interact and Rotaract clubs.
- Organising or nominating participants for RYLA and youth leadership events.
- Coordinating youth exchange or scholarship opportunities.
- Mentoring young leaders and connecting them with club members.
Composition
Led by the Club Young Leaders Contact, supported by members interested in youth development. Works with schools, youth organisations, and any sponsored Interact/Rotaract clubs, and coordinates with the Service Projects and Vocational Service committees.
Coordination & Reporting
- Board of Directors: reports on youth programs and youth protection compliance.
- Service Projects Committee: involves young people in service.
- Vocational Service: aligns mentoring and career programs.
- District youth team: coordinates exchange and RYLA participation.
