Vocational Service Month

As President Cathy has reminded everyone, this month is vocational service month. We have three main vocational service projects that have been approved by the Board for this Rotary year. The first is the establishment of a formal Club Scholarship program. The criteria for applicants has been agreed and will be posted on the Club's web site shortly. The goal is to target Caymanian students who for financial reasons would otherwise be unable to afford to continue with their eductaion after High School. Education is the key to the future of the youth of today and we have to do what we can to invest in it. This year we have successfully raised funds towards this project. Soon we will be seeking applications for scholarships which will be reviewed by a scholarship committee. Greenlight Re also has a scholarship progam that it establish in memory of Bill Brooks, the late father of Rotarian Alan. We will also be assiting with the award of that scholarsip. WHAT CAN YOU DO? Members can support this program by assisting with fund raising. If your companies have charitable donation budgets see if consideration can be given to making a donation to the scholarship fund. I have also entered the Cayman Islands Marathon this year and will be looking to raise money for the scholarship fund so when pledge forms are circulated please do what you can do by way of support. I will cover the other two aspects of the Club's vociational service projects in the next two editions of Club Runner. YIR Director Alistair
