President Stephanie ,fellow Rotarians and guests, we are concluding  an initiative of  the club’s New Generations Committee which sought to publicly recognize three young persons who exemplify Service Above Self, show leadership qualities or have excelled at conflict resolution. This initiative is in keeping with the objectives of our previous District governor for club excellence 2012-2013.To commence the programme we published a set of criteria adopted from the Rotary Club of Liguanea Plains, Jamaica .


 

 

It reads as follows:

 

Prospective persons should fit the following criteria:

 

1 . Demonstrate excellent leadership skills

2 .Have excelled academically

3 .Demonstrate focus and fortitude

4  .Has been impactful/beneficial to others

5  .Be between the ages of 16 and 30

6 .Be an active person in his/her community

7 .Should be truthful at all times

8 .Should be a fair individual

9 .has built goodwill and friendship throughout the community

 

Director Roydell and Rotarians Jennifer Smith and Deanna Look Loy reviewed and scored the submissions. The winners were :

 

Alexandra Anglin a student from the St. Ignatius  Catholic School , submission made by Mr. O’Neil Miller Director of Religious Education , St. Ignatius Catholic Church.

 

Nijel Powery, a student from Cayman Prep and High School, submission made by Ms. Mellony Bryan of the Youth Services Department .

 

Latoya Francis ,an employee of DMS , submission made by Ms. Karen Kersey .

 

The prizes were Ipads kindly donated by the CICSA Cooperative Credit Union, Digicel and a joint sponsorship by Cayman National bank and a member of our club who wished to remain anonymous.

Invited guest Mr. James Myles from the Youth services Department was on hand to receive Nijel’s prize as he is currently studying in the UK and Mr. Richard Harrison from DMS received Latoya’s prize as she is also studying in the UK. Alexandra was on hand to receive her prize accompanied by Mr . O’Neil miller and her father. Ms. Corinne Glasgow from the Credit union and Rotarian Brian  from Digicel were acknowledged for their generosity as well as Caymanian national Bank
