Committee Description & Terms of Reference

Committee Chair / Director: Nicole Fleury

Reports to: Club President & Board of Directors

Avenue of Service: Club Service

Typical term: Recommended three-year term for continuity (where practicable)

Purpose

The Public Image Committee enhances awareness and understanding of Rotary among club members, the media, and the public. It promotes the club's projects and activities, protects the Rotary brand, and ensures the club presents a consistent, professional, and engaging image that supports membership growth and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote the club's service projects, events, and achievements to the community and media.
  • Manage the club's public communications — website, social media, newsletters, and press.
  • Ensure correct and consistent use of the Rotary brand and visual identity.
  • Build relationships with local media to secure positive coverage.
  • Tell compelling stories that show Rotary's impact (People of Action).
  • Support membership and fundraising efforts through effective promotion.

Typical Activities

  • Producing and posting social media content and managing the club website.
  • Drafting press releases and event announcements.
  • Photographing and documenting club events and projects.
  • Maintaining brand-compliant templates and materials.

Composition

Led by the Public Image Chair/Director, supported by members with communications, design, or media skills. The Chair serves on the Board and works closely with every other committee to publicise their work.

Coordination & Reporting

  • Board of Directors: reports on public image strategy and outcomes.
  • All committees: gathers and promotes their news and impact.
  • Membership Committee: supports recruitment messaging.
  • District/RI: aligns with Rotary brand standards and campaigns.
