Committee Description & Terms of Reference

Committee Chair / Director: Marc Dixon

Reports to: Club President & Board of Directors

Avenue of Service: Club Service

Typical term: Recommended three-year term for continuity (where practicable)

Purpose

The Fundraising Committee plans and executes the club's fundraising activities to generate the resources needed to support its service projects, Foundation giving, and community commitments. It ensures fundraising is well-organised, transparent, and aligned with the club's goals and the Rotary brand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop an annual fundraising plan and revenue goals tied to the club's needs.
  • Plan, organise, and run the club's fundraising events and campaigns.
  • Ensure sound financial controls, transparency, and accurate accounting of funds raised.
  • Cultivate sponsors, donors, and community partners.
  • Coordinate fundraising with the club's service and Foundation priorities.
  • Evaluate the success of events and refine the approach each year.

Typical Activities

  • Organising signature fundraising events (galas, raffles, sponsored activities).
  • Securing sponsorships and in-kind support.
  • Managing event logistics, budgets, and volunteer teams.
  • Reporting net proceeds and allocation to the Board.

Composition

Led by the Fundraising Chair, supported by members with event, sponsorship, or finance experience. Coordinates with the Treasurer, Foundation, Service Projects, and Public Image committees.

Coordination & Reporting

  • Board of Directors: seeks approval for events and reports proceeds.
  • Treasurer: ensures proper handling and accounting of funds.
  • Foundation & Service Projects: aligns fundraising with funding needs.
  • Public Image Committee: promotes events and recognises sponsors.
