Committee Description & Terms of Reference
Purpose
The Rotary Foundation Committee develops and carries out a plan to support The Rotary Foundation through both financial contributions and program participation. It educates members about the Foundation's mission — doing good in the world through grants, polio eradication, and the areas of focus — and channels the club's giving and project energy into Foundation-supported service.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop annual Foundation giving goals (Annual Fund, PolioPlus, Endowment) and a plan to achieve them.
- Educate club members on how the Foundation works and how their contributions are used.
- Encourage participation in Foundation recognition programs (e.g., Paul Harris Fellow, Paul Harris Society, Benefactors).
- Promote and help implement Foundation district and global grant projects.
- Track and acknowledge member and club contributions, ensuring funds are properly transmitted.
- Support PolioPlus fundraising and awareness activities.
Typical Activities
- Running Foundation moments or presentations at club meetings.
- Coordinating Paul Harris Fellow recognition and celebrations.
- Organising at least one grant-funded service project where feasible.
- Reporting giving progress against goal to the Board through the year.
Composition
Led by the Club Rotary Foundation Chair/Director, ideally supported by members familiar with grants and giving, serving staggered terms. The Chair serves on the Board and coordinates closely with the Service Projects, Membership, and Public Image committees, and with District Foundation leadership.
Coordination & Reporting
- Board of Directors: reports giving progress and Foundation goals.
- Service Projects Committee: partners on grant-funded projects.
- District Foundation team: aligns club giving with district and RI goals.
- Club Treasurer/Secretary: ensures contributions are recorded and transmitted correctly.
