The Rotary Club of Tortola marked World Polio Day on 24 October 2015 by teaming up with the organizers of the H. Lavity Stout College Classic Race Series, a series of 2 mile road running races, to co-sponsor that day’s race. During the lead up to the race, the Club worked to raise awareness of polio and the work that Rotary International has done for its eradication through local media reports and other publicity.

On the day, Rotarians and Rotaractors from all the BVI clubs joined runners from the whole of the BVI community joined up to race and raise funds for Rotary’s Polio Fund. All participants were asked to make a small donation to the Polio Fund, with over US$ 700 being raised. All were also invited to join us after the race for a fellowship breakfast provided by the Club. The event proved to be not only a good fundraising event but also a fantastic advert for Rotary in the BVI. A link to local press coverage of the event is attached below.
