WORLD POLIO DAY

Sunday, 24 October 2010 is World Polio Day as determined by the UN.  Rotarians around the world are planning events in celebration of this day.

For the week leading up to this event, October 18 - 24th, The Rotary Foundation will be offering 2 for 1 recognition credit for every contribution of US$100 or more made to polio on-line.  The opportunity is open to all Rotarians worldwide for just this one week.   What a great way to increase your Paul Harris Fellow credits!

"We know that it's a formidable challenge to eradicate a disease that has killed and crippled children since at least the time of the ancient Egyptians.  We don't know exactly when the last child will be affected.  But we do have the vaccines to wipe it out....If we all have the fortitude to see this effort through to the end, then we will eradicate polio."  Bill Gates, THE ROTARIAN Magazine
