RYLA Success
Â
KUDOS to the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Committee for a very successful RYLA weekend. The event was well-planned, well-organized and well-executed. I really enjoyed the weekend and so did the young men and women who participated. To witness their evolvement from Friday to Sunday was truly gratifying.

Many thanks to the planning committee: PP Charles Wheatley and PP Janice Rymer who co-chaired the committee; Vocational Directors Jeffrey Potter-Canton and Stephen Cooper; President of the Rotaract Club Mia Wattley and Rotaractor Shavorn. Job well done!
Thanks to the Contributors and Facilitators: Benedicta Samuels, Dr. Maris Hodge-Wright, Dr. McAnnany, Rotaractor Abbi Christopher, Rotarian Edna Williams, AG Vance, Rotarian Ryan Gelluk, VP Leroy Moses and PP Louis Potter. The Honorable Andrew Fahie and Rotarian Dr. Orlando Smith were guest speakers. Thanks to Astrid and Angela and Rosie for representing the media. Rotarian Roxie Romney and JML sponsored to T-shirts and Roxie's nephew, Matthew Evans, spoke on behalf of JML. PE Stephanie Bien was there to lend her support. The staff of Lambert Beach were very patient and hospitable, and did a good job serving us for the weekend, and Mr. Yonaho Leslie was very accommodating and met our needs.
There were 20 Rotarians (ten from each club) who each sponsored a youth. Many thanks for the donation from the Ministry which went a long way in making this event affordable.
This was the first RYLA event in the BVI, and a joint event with both clubs..... I hope it will become one of our annual joint-club events. The results and the benefits were well-worth the time and money invested.
