On Saturday, September 27th, 2025, the Rotary Club of Tortola, in partnership with the BVI Red Cross, BVI Health Services Authority, and Digicel, hosted a community Blood Donor Drive at Rite Way, Pasea.

The event gave residents the opportunity to learn their blood type, understand the do’s and don’ts of donation, and most importantly, contribute to strengthening the national blood supply. Rotarians and community members alike turned out in support, showing once again the power of service and partnership in action.

Past President Abby O’Neal, who spearheaded the drive, noted: “Blood saves lives, and today we not only collected much-needed donations but also raised awareness in our community about the importance of giving regularly. I’m proud of the teamwork that went into making this possible and grateful to everyone who stepped forward to help.”

In addition to donations, the drive also served as an educational platform. Many first-time donors were able to discover their blood type and learn how their contributions could directly support the BVI’s emergency response capacity. The initiative was warmly received by the public, with volunteers and health professionals working side by side to ensure a safe and impactful event.

Club President, Rotarian Violeta Gual, added: “This project reflects Rotary’s spirit of service above self. By working together with our partners, we not only met an immediate need but also built awareness that will strengthen our community long into the future.”

The Rotary Club of Tortola thanks all the partners, volunteers, and donors who made this effort a success. This project reflects Rotary’s ongoing commitment to community health and building a stronger Virgin Islands.
