New Generations Director--Almost two Months Into it

New Generations Director Mary Finley Jones, who is also past president of the club is first to fill the role first envisioned by our Rotary International (RI) President. This fifth addition to the avenues of service gives focus to the personal and professional development of the youth of the RI family.
Since her appointment, director Mary hosted separate leadership training workshops for Rotaractors and Interactors in their home countries of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) and the United States Virgin Islands. This facilitated newly chartered St. Thomas Club members and others who could not travel to Jamiaca this year for that training requirement.
There was much support shown by the other clubs of the BVI whose officers such as PP Stephanie Bin (Road Town), PP Lloyd Black (from Tortola), Laura Arthur (Sunrise), all assisted. AG Ron Potter, President Lorna, Pres Ken (Sunrise), Pres Charlie Benjamin (Road Town) were key note speakers for the training workshops.
The New Generations Director stated that there were many targeted areas of development for this service avenue. She expressed confidence, however, in giving life to two major goals for her year of responsibility: 1. To form an Earlyact club for children under 12 years of age, and, 2. To host a RYLA event here in the British Virgin Islands. Earlier this month, also, she involved Rotaractors in saying thanks to the BVI community for donations to Haiti.
Next month is New Generations month , and president Mary says plans are underway.
