Defining Moment

Addressing the Rotary Club of Tortola at its luncheon meeting on March 25, Mr. David Johnson spoke of a defining moment in his life, which focused him on the importance of "quality moments passed".  Since suffering a broken neck in a swimming pool in 1978, wisdom, workers, and wealth, are core beliefs and motivations of his.  There is enough to go around he says.

 

Mr. Johnson is the Chairman of Victor International, an internationally respected and successful Luxury Resort Community Developer, with various affiliated and related companies in the USA and the BVI .

 

He has been in the BVI for the last five (5) years and has made significant financial contributions in support of various local charities and initiatives including the BVI Red Cross, VISAR and Rotary, just to name a few.

 

A donation in the amount of $10,000 was presented to the Rotary Club of Tortola for the Mangrove Boardwalk Project.  In addition three wow prizes were presented for the recent Virgin Affair held on Virgin Gorda.  Mr. Johnson expressed his appreciation to the current and previous administrations for their support.

 

His work evidences that sowing is reaping, and most recently for his hard work the BVI's name was spread abroad. Americas Residential Awards in association with CNBC lauded Mr. Johnson's OilNutBay project by awarding it 'Best Caribbean Marina Development Design' in 2009.  His company is spearheading the major OilNutBay and NorthSoundYachtHarbour mega Yacht Marina projects. The development will include the Oil Nut Bay Nature Education and LearningCenter which will host the Marine and LandAwarenessCenter, History of the BVI and the Children's Programs.

 

This world-class mega yacht facility is scheduled to open in March of 2011 and will host a mega yacht show-the first of its kind in the British Virgin Islands.  This development promises to prove the British Virgin Islands with new strategic alliances, community and business opportunities, jobs at all levels, education, training and especially a break through in technology just to name a few.

 

Mr. Johnson is a scholar of his own belief, allowing knowledge and wisdom to lead him.  His remarkable track record of accomplishments can be seen in:

 

·      The acquisition of Biras Creek Resort in 2006.

·     The establishing of the North Sound Foundation in order to provide  improvement for the

     North Sound community on Virgin Gorda.

·      The Jump Car he helped pioneer made it to the Guinness World Book of Records  in 2009

·        Global award for excellence based on criteria for establishing innovative concepts.

 

In closing Mr. Johnson thanked the BVI Government for its ongoing support of the project as well as the many local contractors who have assisted in making the project a quality one.  He stated that "It is apparent that OilNutBay realizes that the pristine environment of the BVI is its most important amenity, and OilNutBay is taking steps to make sure these environmental resources are protected and preserved".
