On Saturday, February 7 the Rotary Club of Tortola began a project to beautify the round-about at Port Purcell. A backhoe began by digging a footing for the new stone wall that will be built to surround the roundabout. Later, new landscaping will be installed.

Club President Percy Rhoden said that the project will take several months and will depend largely on the volunteer efforts of Rotarians. He asked for the cooperation of motorists using the roundabout and said that efforts will be made to keep traffic disruptions to a minimum.

"We hope that when this project is complete, the Port Purcell roundabout will be a source of pride for residents and that it will add to the overall beauty of the capital, Road Town," he said. President Percy thanked the various Government ministries and departments which agreed for the beautification project to commence.
