The Rotary Club of Tortola’s regular lunch meeting on Thursday, 6th September 2018 was not an ordinary meeting. Neither was it an ordinary day.   Members from the entire BVI Rotary family consisting of Rotarians and Rotaracts gathered for a special lunch meeting at the Moorings Mariner Restaurant to commemorate the 1st anniversary of Hurricane Irma which left widespread destruction across the British Virgin Islands.
 
Significant remnants of the destruction still outline our communities.  Residents are still recovering, repairing their homes and making the best of a situation in the aftermath.
 
A panel discussion moderated by District Governor Elect Delma Maduro was held on Hurricanes Irma and Maria with His Excellency Gus Jaspert and Premier Orlando Smith.  The panelists discussed the impact of the storms and progress made one year later.
