BVI first place in 11th Annual Premier's Cup

This year's event drew four teams from Anguilla, St. Lucia, North America and the BVI.  For the first time ever in the history of these races, the BVI won in every class, the IC24, the Laser Class and the Open Big Class.  In the Laser Class, Dontea Hodge, the skipper emerged the champion and Sam Morrell, skipper in the Open Big Class.

In the IC24 Class, the BVI took first place, 2nd place St. Lucia, 3rd place Anguilla and in 4th place North America/Sail Caribbean.  They also emerged the winners of the Sportsmanship Award.

Over the two day competition, the BVI emerged the winners.  The team comprised of Jonathan Woods, Hannah Welch, Amanda Putley, Chris Brockbank, Dontae Hodge and Indigo Collins, all vibrant, and skilled products of the KATS Skipper Programme.

Digicel has sponsored the Premier's Cup for the next five years and due to this year's event there will be a permanent KATS programme in Virgin Gorda.

The Rotary Clubs of the BVI provided financial and logistical support to the regatta.  Rotary volunteers serve food, provide security, transportation and many other services to ensure that the event take place successfully.
