We did it! The Air Show was a huge success and we were part of making that happen. Thanks to all who came out to help with parking, food and drinks. Special thanks to those who came out to set up, break down and clean up. There was a lot of cleaning that had to be done.

The crowd on the airport site was estimated at 4,000 to5,000 people. The Air Show performers said that there was at least as many people outside the site viewing from the road, surrounding hills and boats. That brings the crowd estimates to 9,000 to 10,000 people making it one of, if not the, largest event ever held in the BVI.

Rotary received high praise from both the Police and the BVI Airport Authority for the professional and efficient way our Parking Committee performed. Everyone seemed to be happy with the food and drinks as well. The Airport Authority had their doubts about how we would perform when they saw tents half up on Thursday night. But, in true form, the Rotarians came out bright and early Friday and made it happen.

Of course the Air Show itself was the main success. The Airport Authority did an outstanding job organizing the event, which went like clockwork. It was an amazing job when you consider all the air traffic that was in the area during that time period. But the best part was the performers. They really outdid themselves. And when you consider the phenomenal risks they take in performing their aerobatics, it was done very safely without a scratch or complaint. They had a good time as well. Jack Knutson who flew the blue Extra says that it was his favorite Air Show he's attended. And of course, Larry Schlasinger, who flew the black Yak 52 considers the BVI his second home. So he loved it.

Thanks to all who came out, lent a hand, and made this event the incredible success that it was.
