On Thursday May 10th, the Rotary Club of West Nassau honoured one of its founding members, by establishing the Rotary Club of West Nassau Bismark Coakley Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund.

The Scholarship was established at the University of The Bahamas (UB) with the support of the Coakley Family. RCWN has pledged an initial contribution of $5,000 this Rotary year, with a commitment to provide a further $15,000 over the next 3 years. Working along with UB, the ultimate goal is to raise $100,000 to ensure that the fund is self-sustaining.

PP Bradley Roberts, also a founding member of RCWN and one of the late PP Bismark's closest friends and business partners, also pledged $2,500 this year, with a further $1,000 per annum for the rest of his life.

The scholarship will be used to assist young men wishing to pursue a degree in business at the University of The Bahamas. Recipients will be required to join and remain a member of Rotaract Club of University of The Bahamas (RCUB) and participate in a RCWN-approved summer apprenticeship programme.
