"Conservation"

Each year over 500 billion plastic bags are consumed with less than 1% of them being recycled. Beach Buddys is a program which promotes conservation and clean-up of our public beaches by children from schools in the area. Tons of garbage is collected during these clean-ups but the major contributors are cigarettes, plastic bags and utensils, aluminum cans, food wrappers, etc. The improper disposal of garbage is impacting our wild and sealife, forests, communities, parks, lakes and oceans. Plastic bags are an issue because they don't breakdown and eventually finds its way into our food chain through affected animals. Numerous different species have died from injesting trash or being trapped by plastic bags, etc. We can help with conservation by using cloth bags and properly disposing of our garbage. Remember, behind each piece of trash is a human face - dispose of your garbage properly!
