What is Rotary to You?

"A vehicle by which men and women with passion to achieve [collectively]

are presented with extraordinary opportunities to do so" is a quote that John Smarge feels hold true to the definition of Rotary. The Rotary International Director-Elect, took the Sunrise audience on his Rotary journey that began in Naples, Florida. He recalls his orientation into Rotary as being one that was not particularly friendly at the onset but involved a demonstration of selfless service. After getting his feet wet locally, he was introduced to Rotary internationally through the Polio Project in India.  It was this experience that brought his purpose in Rotary to a full circle and caused his to conclude that Rotary is the most single humanitarian effort that the world has ever seen.
