formally established in 2004, operates under the premise that an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.

The group's formation began in 2002 through a social outreach arm of the Church of God.  Its current home is situated at 83 Mt. Royal Ave. However, they are in search of a more spacious and affordable property that would adequately meet the needs of their growing demands. STRAW's primary focus is to offer youth development programs that address problems that affect young women.  The concerns range from attitude to self-esteem to education to domestic environment and civic involvement.  In order to carry out their action plan, STRAW has partnered with such organizations as Ambassador Chorale and Dolphin Encounters.  Other helpful resources include summer employment, career placement and intervention management.  Among the organization's challenges are funding, transportation services and office equipment. Their operational cost is approximately $500.00 per person per annum.
