Club Continues 20 Years of Support to the Salvation Army’s Annual Fundraising Event

11 December 2021: The Salvation Army, an international non-profit organization, has been present in The Bahamas for more than 90 years providing assistance to persons in need. While the local organization has historically been known for its work with the blind, over the years, it has stepped in to provide assistance across many areas including combating hunger, supporting people affected by disaster, assisting with emergency shelter and other areas of support.

Since its formation 20 years ago, each December, the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise (RCNS) has assisted the Salvation Army in meeting its annual budgetary needs by participating in the annual Red Kettle Bell Ringing fundraiser. This year, RCNS members, along with its sponsored Rotaract Club of Nassau Sunset and Interact Club at The Leadership Academy have supported the event in full force.

Club President, Terez Simmons, is quoted as saying “We at the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise are proud to say that our legacy of commitment to supporting the Salvation Army in this very important initiative has not wavered! While the COVID-19 pandemic may have limited our involvement last year, we are happy to be back at the kettle supporting this initiative.”

The public is asked to look out for the Red Kettle Bell Ringers at more than 30 locations to lend support to this campaign or contact the Salvation Army at salvationarmybahamas.org or call The Salvation Army at 393-2340.
