My Job Talk

Sunrisers were off to a spirited start this morning as they kicked off their first meeting for the 2014-2015 Rotary year. Quite fitting for their first meeting was the ‘My Job Talk’ by the two most recent members - Danielle Knowles and Karen Major. Both Danielle and Karen are bankers and were sponsored by Deno Moss. Danielle Knowles is the Assistant Manager of Operations and Service at Scotiabank located in ‘City 2000’ (for you ‘uptowners’, that’s Carmichael Road). Ms. Knowles favors service . . . performing her duties, above and beyond the call because she feels that “service drives sales.” Her commitment to serve others encouraged her and fellow church members to create a committee that provides food for the homeless on New Providence streets. Twice a month, ‘The Crew’, drives from Goodman’s Bay to Fox Hill roundabout handing out food and hope. Ms. Knowles is excited about the opportunity that Rotary offers – service. She stated, “Rotary felt right.” She realizes that Rotary provides a deeper sense of self.

Karen Major is a Manager at Royal Fidelity Bank and Trust Bahamas with responsibilities for Execution Services, Advisory Services, and Portfolio Management. As if born to be a Rotarian, Ms. Major’s greatest reward is assisting clients and by extension, assisting the community. Her attitude of serving others was encouraged by her mother who taught her to not only be good, but to do well. At a very young age, she began assisting at the Ranfurly Homes for Children and is a Pathfinder member. Karen is proud to be a part of an organization that gives back to the community. She feels the opportunity that Rotary provides, allows her to branch out of herself.
