As with any other organization, its members expect value from their effort and monetary contribution.  The same is true for Rotary.  The importance of seeking and retaining good members was presented by Past President Tim Ingraham to the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise at its weekly meeting August 30th, 2012.

PP Tim noted two realities regarding clubs and members - people really want to join great clubs and members do not leave great clubs!  He noted that organizations must be well ran, professional, exciting, feature an interesting but balanced programme, maintain a good mix of members, keep its members well informed, provide opportunities for growth and development and offer forums to capture members input.  PP Tim also noted that the number one Rotary clubs is due to missed expectations and club executives must do all that they can to provide training, mentoring and opportunities for involvement for new members to set the right expectation.

As a featured speaker for RCNS' Membership Month in August, PP Tim concluded that all members joined Rotary for a purpose, including networking, social interaction, personal development, excitement and, to provide service to the community.  He noted that the successful clubs catered to these member expectations and challenged RCNS to do the same.
