Incoming President's message

"Service is the rent we pay for living on this earth". Shirley Anita Chisolm My involvement with different projects that serve others goes way back. When I joined Rotary, my sense of having a responsibility to serve rose to another level. I do love Rotary. I am inspired by the ideal of "Service Above Self". I am heartened by the idea of people wanting to help others and serving their community. And to do so voluntarily! Rotarians know deep within their consciousness that at some level each person is his brother's keeper. We know that while it is laudatory to do well, it is more important to do good. It is not enough lead successful lives - our lives should be significant. Real Rotarians do not sit on the sidelines with critics and commentators wondering, "When is somebody going to do something?". We can and do create the change we want to see. Over the years we have lent a helping hand, made a difference, sown seeds of love and made dreams real. It has been an absolute privilege to be a part of The Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise, the best little club in the galaxy! I am humbled and pleased to serve as President of this dynamic club. My hope is that during the Rotary year 2009-2010 our club will firmly place its imprint on our community both at home and abroad. Being in Rotary means that the world is our home and within that larger home, we serve and are served by others. This year, the future of Rotary is in our hands. The future of Nassau Sunrise is in our hands. We will do well to remember that there are many persons whose futures are caught up with ours. It is imperative, especially in the current climate of economic turmoil and upheaval, that we uphold the ideal of service. It is incumbent on us that we renew our commitment to help those who require assistance. More than ever, our service and our leadership in our community are required. Let's enjoy great fellowship in our Nassau Sunrise family while serving others. Let's make it a great year for Nassau Sunrise and for Rotary. Together, let's ensure a great future for our communities. To that end, we need "All Hands on Deck". Nassau Sunrise The Future of Rotary is in your hands.
