Last week Thursday, members of The Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise along with Mr. Peter Goudie and Mr. Richard Adderley of Rotary Club of East Nassau, joined with 24 sailors from the British Royal Navy HMS Richmond to work at the iCan Project.
iCan Community Limited is a literacy based child empowerment initiative and the RCNS has been assisting them for a number of months with the building of their 10 unit gazebo style classroom. Last week Thursday the group focused on painting the 10 structures.
The project was a massive success, as we were able to complete painting on all 10 of the buildings and convert the site from being in transition to a finished project. This one day of effort has leapfrogged this project ahead by months and will allow Tehranique, the Executive Director the ability to open to the public sooner than anticipated.
All in all it was great, fun and hard work from all those that helped to make this project a success. For those who have not read the Tribune newspaper, there are articles of the iCan project, both on February 3rd and February 4th. In addition, ZNS was there to interview both Executive Director Tehranique and Founding President Bill.
Special thanks to all Rotarians, British Royal Navy, Rosamund Roberts, The Royal Society of St. George, Rotary Inner Wheel, The Hash House Harriers, KFC, Burns House, Bahamas Local, Aquapure Water and Lightbourne Trading.
