We’ve all seen the advertisements. Some of us are even guilty of desire . . . guilty of the desire to live as healthily as the poster model appears – Lady Bernadette Christie. The Rotary Club of Southeast Nassau has embarked on quite a mammoth yet worthwhile task of aiming “to change the lifestyle habits which are leading to health problems among Bahamians” through their campaign, 'Get Moving Bahamas.

Last Thursday, Director of the committee leading this venture, Timothy Ingraham shared with the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise during their weekly meeting. The Rotary Club of Southeast Nassau’s theme, “Don’t wait to lose weight”, advocates that 30 minutes of exercise, 5 times per week, equate an additional 10 years to your life. Further, the campaign aims to create awareness of our health status, our eating habits, encourage healthy eating, encourage exercise, and make a lifetime difference. The Southeast Rotarians hope the campaign would actually change lives. Members of the club are not just instructing others what to do, but they have made the healthy habits part of their daily routine. To assist in this effort, the Southeast Club has partnered with Urban Renewal to get their message into the communities. With aggressive advertising, it is expected to see the influx of billboards, brochures, and emails to help get the message to you and someone you love. A Facebook Page was created. The page, ‘Get Moving Bahamas’, includes remedies for lowering high blood pressure, fitness facts and tips, juicing advise, and weight loss suggestions.
