The Bahamas Judo Federation is a family oriented organization that develops youths to compete in local and international Judo competitions. Judo is practiced in over 30 locations in the Bahamas ranging from preschools to the College of the Bahamas. Judo is an Olympic sport that is practiced in the Bahamas. It has been said of Judo that it combines the tenacity of wrestling with the skills of a gymnast and the strength of a power lifter. It has a high appeal to young people because it is so personally fulfilling. The Bahamas Judo Federation sponsors an ongoing program which helps youth in the Fox Hill Community that cannot afford Judo lessons. Its clients are students largely drawn from Sandilands Primary and LW Young school within the Fox Hill community. Its goals are to develop healthy, fit, strong, disciplined, focused youth that can later win Olympic glory for the Bahamas. Objectives: Through the use of proper training methods and equipment, young people will demonstrate: â?¢ Improved fitness and strength. â?¢ Ability to follow instructions. â?¢ Ability to attend classes on time. â?¢ Ability to set goals and accomplish them. â?¢ Promotion of the Bahamas through international excellence.
