Mr. Gibson gave a detailed account of his experiences as a parent with an autistic child. He said it creates numerous challenges on a daily basis including emotional, physical and financial. However, he is committed to do his part to sensitize the public on the issue. Through R.E.A.C.H. they are trying to improve the quality of life for children with Autism in the Bahamas. It also serves as a support group for families of children with the disorder. At the moment there are only a few schools who cater to autistic children including Anatol Rodgers, Stapledon, Blairwood, Hopedale and Willard Patton. However, greater efforts are being made to ensure heighten the awareness of this problem in the Bahamas.
