Norman Stafford Solomon - a Bahamian Hero! Ms. Phillips seen in photo showing Rotarians a copy of the bust being made.

Norman Stafford Solomon was a businessman, politician, tourism activist, writer and race car driver. He was admired by many because he stood up for what was right. Born on October 7, 1929 during hurricane Betsy - the worst hurricane which hit the Bahamas. He was educated at Queens College in Nassau and began his career as a writer for the Nassau Guardian. He played and integral role in a number of political parties including the United Bahamian Party and Social Democratic Party. However, he fought for majority rule and to end racial discrimination. He was a tourism activist whose passion was to see the redevelopment of the city of Nassau and what it could become. He was a humble man whose generosity impacted thousands of people across the Bahamas. He believed that from those who had little much has been taken and from those who have much - they should give. A bronze bust of the late Norman S. Solomon will be placed in a prominent place in the city of Nassau.
