Monday, Sept 14 Francis Clarke, the Senior Project Engineer with Caribbean Civil Group at the North Abaco Port Project, spoke with the Rotary Club of Abaco. Mr. Clarke was joined by colleagues from the China Harbour Engineering Corp.

The North Abaco Port, which will be roughly three times the size of the Marsh Harbour Port, will include a marina to be run by a private entity as well as an area for the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.

Mr. Clarke explained the dredging for Port’s Harbour Basin is about 50% completed. The entire project is scheduled for a Jan 2017 completion date but several delays may put the project slightly beyond that date.

The estimated cost of the North Abaco Port is $38 million and has a projected 50 year life. Mr. Clarke explained their economic models predict an 18% Internal Rate of Return.
