Alan Rose of Westlake High School Music Department and Elaine Williams of the Alliance of the Arts accept awards
Tammie Helmuth spoke of the nature of the Rothschild Award, highlighting the contributions Bill Rothschild made to the wonderful area that was the Conejo Valley, especially his contributions to the open space surrounding this amazing area and service to youth. Tammie then spoke of the recipient of the award, a much loved teacher at Westlake High School. Alan Rose taught music, directed the various choral groups, and over all reached out to students and impacted their lives in a rich way. Testimony to this is that he was asked to walk three of his students down the aisle when they were married.

Steve Stanley spoke of John Conlan, former President of the Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks and widely connected to many community endeavors, including the Alliance for the Arts. Steve then introduced this year’s recipient of the John Conlan Award, Elaine Williams. Elaine has been active in the community and the arts even before the building of the Civic Plaza, but has been especially involved since in supporting the Alliance of the Arts and leading many significant community arts and cultural enrichment events.

Both award recipients received a Paul Harris Fellowship and were reminded that they were now significant contributors to peace, health and service above self around the world.
