Today, July 25, 2005: Herb Bursch is the program chair today.
Hot, hot, hot: If you think it is steamy hot in Michigan, consider those in Phoenix where the termperatures hit 116 degrees or Chicago with a record 107. Most Rotarians can remember the days before air conditioning and backyard pools. Is it hotter now? But temperatures in the 90's is stifling enough.
Religion: The Press and Argus has been running a series of articles on religion in Livingston County. Rev. Alberta stated that "half the (mainline) clergy wouldn't know Christ is they bumped into him at Meijer's." Well, we have some mainline clergy in our Rotary club and we might assume that they are offended. What would Jesus say?
Day Of Caring: Peter Bowen has taken the initiative to rally Howell Rotarians for help with this yearly community service event. Won't you add your name to the sign-up sheet? You can also register online at:

Sports: Baseball. If you hadn't noticed, the Tigers are playing .500 baseball with signs of great improvement with the young players that they have. Of course, most of us are rooting for whoever is playing against the Yankees.
Hockey. Hockey will return this coming October with new rules and new payrolls after losing an entire season. The Red Wings have a new coach after letting Dave Lewis go.
Basketball. The Pistons let Larry Brown go and hired Flip Saunders to coach next season. It is odd.
Football. The Lions are getting ready for practice soon with hope and potential.
Old Age Ain't for Sissies:
1. Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.
2. Life would be definitely happier if we could only be born at the age of 80 and gradually approach 18.
