The Howell Rotary Club will meet on Monday, February 13, 2012 for lunch at 12:00 in the Community Room at St. Joseph Mercy Livingston Hospital on Byron Road in Howell.
This week Club Member Jesse Parsley will host the program. He will be introducing a special guest who will share his experience as it relates to our Tour de Livingston.
At the last meeting, held February 6, the Club listened to a great presentation about Howell’s history from Duane Zemper and Brent Earl. Zemp and Brent shared a collection of fascinating photos from the town’s history – many featuring persons who were active Rotarians “back in the day.”
Have you registered with the state as an organ donor? Our official percentage is 39%. I’ve not heard from the other clubs as to their percentages. Just in case you forgot, you can go on-line at giftoflifemichigan.org and self-register.
Our next fund-raising event is the Walk for Warmth scheduled for February 25th. Doris Stromer will lead our individual efforts to solicit sponsors for our walk.
Can we each get $50 in pledges? That would go a long way to meet the needs of community member who are struggling to stay warm. Remember, these funds are administered through OLHSA. Get your pledge sheets and money to Doris.
Also, make plans to bowl and/or get pledges for bowling in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters event March 10. Pledged funds go to support BB/BS!
The Tour de Livingston Planning Committee held its first meeting on Friday, February 10 to begin the process for our October 14 event. Thanks to all the Club Members who have stepped forward to take leadership on this very important fund raiser for Livingston County United Way.
All of our members should have already marked Sunday, October 14 on their calendar’s as a day they will be volunteering to work the Tour event!
