The Howell Rotary Club will meet on Monday, August 29th for lunch at 12:00 in the Community Room at St. Joseph Mercy Livingston Hospital on Byron Rd. in Howell.
Our program will focus on the 4th Annual Tour de Livingston. This is a great time for all Rotarians to be involved with the Club, enjoy time with each other and do more great things for our community. Monday’s meeting will be reviewing the logistics for the upcoming Tour, activities that need your help PRIOR to the event, as well as volunteer needs for the day of the event. The Tour de Livingston puts the Howell Rotary Club front and center in the community and we’d like to have our entire club involved in some way. Sign-up sheets and complete oral descriptions of tasks will be provided at this meeting.
Also, if you need to replace your stained and worn out Rotary Shirt, be prepared to order a new one. An order sheet will be circulating Monday. And new members can order/purchase a shirt at this meeting as well.
Your Rotary Board met at 7:30 a.m. on the 25th. Among many items discussed and agreed upon was the Club participating in a little rivalry with other County Rotary Clubs to see how high a percentage of our members can be persuaded to sign up as organ donors. We’re scheduling a presentation by the Gift of Life organization to inform us of the how’s and why’s – although we probably already know the why’s.
The Board also discussed a proposal for our Club to join with the Brighton Club and the Sunrise Club in a joint project to erect signage at the Genoa Twp Park, which you probably know is quite nice and is located at the Genoa Twp Hall site off of Dorr Road. The consensus was that we just don’t have the resources to engage in that project at this time. The Board left open the possibility of undertaking some smaller project in the future.
Remember to sign up for Club Social - The Disc Golf Outing/Potluck. Date: August 31; Time: 5:30; Location: Marion Twp Hall (W. Coon Lake Rd.). We will all enjoy the experience of trying a new sport and an opportunity to engage one another in a new environment.
