Rotary Club of Howell Joins District 6380 Food Pantry Service Project
This summer, the Rotary Club of Howell will join fellow District 6380 clubs in a district-wide service project supporting local food pantries as part of the August Impact Tour of Martha ("Marty") Helman, our Rotary Zone 28/32 Director on the Rotary International Board of Directors. Marty represents a vibrant community of Rotarians across two languages, four countries, and eight time zones: Bermuda, Canada, France, and the United States, bringing the voice of our Zone to Rotary's global leadership.
Inspired by Rotary's call to create lasting impact through service, District 6380 has challenged every club to participate in this shared effort to help fight food insecurity in our local communities.
Beginning with our July 6 meeting, collection boxes will be available each Monday through August 3 for members and guests to donate non-perishable food items. All donations collected by our Club will benefit the St. Joseph Catholic Church Food Pantry in Howell, serving families throughout our community.
Volunteers will deliver our donations during the week of August 3, with an opportunity to serve alongside pantry volunteers. Together with the other Rotary clubs in District 6380, we'll demonstrate that when Rotarians unite in service, we truly create lasting impact ... right here at home.
Membership Dues REMINDER
As we begin a new Rotary year, thank you for your continued involvement in the Rotary Club of Howell! Your annual dues help make everything we do possible, from weekly programs and club operations to scholarships, youth leadership opportunities, community service projects, and the many ways we create lasting impact both here in Howell and around the world.
If you haven't already, please remember that 2026–27 membership dues are due by Friday, July 31. Members may pay in full or take advantage of our two-payment option by paying half in July and the remaining balance in December. Dues may be paid online through Zeffy, by check at a weekly meeting, or by mailing your payment to the club's post office box. Thank you for your continued commitment to Service Above Self and for helping our club continue to grow, serve, and create lasting impact throughout the coming year.
ART Doing Good Update
ART Doing Good has raised just over $50,000, what’s important to know is that this first phase helped build more than the artwork you see today.
It helped launch a long-term public art and community connection program for Downtown Howell, which brings art downtown, supports artists, and connects people with local nonprofits.
The funds have supported the Thai Café artwork and installation, wall preparation, the custom infrastructure needed for that very challenging wall, lighting, nonprofit setup, the website, QR code storytelling, community input collection, preparation for the next wall at The Collective building (where Snedicor's came down), and long-term stewardship of the artwork, including care, replacement, or removal when needed.
The Thai Café wall was a special circumstance. Because of the wood construction, surface irregularities, and our goal of long-term durability, painting directly on that wall was not the best option. Instead, we invested in a flat installation system that allows artwork to be installed now and updated or changed in the future.
The artwork you see today is expected to last around seven years. The infrastructure behind it was built with the future in mind. This wall will be a space to feature artists and artwork for many years to come.
The next installation planned for The Collective building is different. That wall is brick, so the artwork can be painted directly on the wall. As more artwork is added throughout the city, each location will be considered individually so we can choose the best approach for that space.
This first installation is the beginning of something much bigger.
ART Doing Good will continue collecting community input and sharing that inspiration with artists. Each piece of public art will include a QR code where people can learn about the artist, the artwork, local stories, and ways to connect with organizations, volunteer opportunities, events, and needs in the community.
This wall is a welcome to Downtown Howell. It reflects what people said they love most about our community, and it invites everyone to look closer, connect, and be part of the good happening here.
