Carlee Stanton is interning at an international nonprofit agency called Regency Foundation Networx (RFN) and she is spearheading a crowdfunding effort to raise money to fund Business Ignite programs for 4 local schools to get South African youth involved in business. These funds would provide 12 weeks of instruction and materials to 400 students.

Many South African youth, both in and out of school, are met with job shortages and often lack the skills necessary for employment, meaning they are without the proper networks to attain work in contexts outside of their communities.

 

The goal of Business Ignite is to foster self-sufficiency amongst young people aged 16+, by providing low-income learners with hands-on workshops and an opportunity to develop their own business plan and network with local business leaders. Unfortunately, for many families, the cost of this program ($50 per student) is not affordable.
