Our Howell Rotary Website has a section for news events, so we encourage our members to pass along information on upcoming community or charitable activities so we can help spread the word!

Fantasy of Lights

The day after Thanksgiving Howell is hosting one of the best of all parades, the Fantasy of Lights Parade down Grand River in Howell.

This will be a great chance to sell Howell Rotary Raffle Tickets so volunteers are needed. Please see Ron Hingst or Rick Sigler.

This year features some Clydesdales horses from the famous beer commercial for Budweiser. It is a beautiful parade, if you have not been. However, you must remember to wear your fur-lined underwear, mittens, and ear muffs. It will be cold. Be early or you will be walking a long way.

Football

State ended its season with a come-from-behind win over Penn State.  This assures them of a bowl game although who knows which one or when.

Michigan lost to its biggest rival in the cold and rain: OSU 14 U of M 3. Michigan's coach, Lloyd Carr, announced his retirement yesterday.

Carr told The Associated Press of his decision Sunday by phone and said he would not comment further. A news conference will be held Monday on campus.

The 62-year-old coach informed his players and staff of the decision Sunday during a team meeting at Schembechler Hall.

There is still speculation concerning his successor.  However, you can pretty much rule out Herb Wagner and Milt Sandling.

The Seven Dwarfs were marching through the forest one day when they fell in a deep, dark ravine. Snow White, who was following along, peered over the edge of the steep chasm and called out to the fallen dwarfs. From the depths of the dark hole a voice returned, "The Lions are Super Bowl contenders."

Snow White thought to herself, "Thank Goodness... at least Dopey's survived!"
