Today, November 14, 2005:  Shea Charles is the program chair today.

Our INTERACT Club is at it again: Click here for a couple great pictures Peter Bowen sent in. That's a check for Hurricane Relief for $1475.90. We need to recruit them for Rotary!

Rotarians in the News: John Fellows recently celebrated 23 years in the insurance business.

Howell Rotary P.R. Director Ron Hingst has done an outstanding job getting our club in to the news. Program Chairs, once your program is set email the information to Ron at least 3 weeks prior so he can get them in the news too. This is part of our renewed membership initiative.

Membership Committee:  Kim Dane has accepted the post of Membership Chair along with Clyde Riley (Co-chair), John Hubbel, and Judy Shewach (Retention).  This is an organized, long-term effort to develop and maintain membership in Rotary.

Some of the goals will include the following:
a)  Reward recruiters.  Some people are consistently bringing prospective members to Rotary and encouraging them to join.
b)  Involve new members right away in club activities.  There are many ways to serve the community and the club.  Fulfilling those services is part of Rotary membership.
c)  Establish a couple of Greeters to meet members and guests at the door.  With guests, it is especially important to make them feel welcome and introduce them to people.
d)  Assign a mentor to each new member to help him/her feel comfortable at meetings and to find special activities to participate in.
e)  Develop a new member orientation.

The goal is to outgrow our current room and to be a more active and friendlier club.

Sunshine Committee:  Jeri McKeon-Andersen has volunteered to recognize special events in Rotarians lives.  If someone is ill, Jeri will send a card in our behalf.  That is only one instance.  Jeri cannot know everything, so she requests that you inform her of any special happenings in people's lives.

Rivally Football:  This coming Saturday is the Big Game for the most important rivalries in college football.  Harvard-Yale, Michigan-Ohio State, USC-UCLA, and many others that are less known.  It is usually the climax to the season although nowadays the season drags into December.  By the way, State plays Penn State.Â
