Today, February 5, 2007: February is Black History Month, so it is fitting that our speaker today is Steve Manor of the Livingston 2001 Diversity Council to tell how our community strives toward diversity.

Saturday, February 24: Team Howell Rotary Walks for Warmth
9:00AM - 11:30 AM, Walk or Jazzercise at the Howell High School Freshmen Campus See Team Captain Larry Loewen. President Jim has challenged you to get a least 10 Howell Rotarians walking for OLHSA's biggest fundraiser of the year. Can we count on you?
Saturday, March 10: Team Howell Rotary Bowls For Kid's Sake and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. We have been challenged by the other Livingston County Clubs to raise the most money and post the best scores. Are you up for the challenge? See Team Captain Dan Murdock.
Bowl For Kid's Sake is held at Hartland's Fire Rock (Striking Lanes), 1535 N. Old US 23. We will be there along with staff from Livingston County's own WHMI 93.5 cheering on the teams and handing out great door prizes. Food and Pepsi is provided to the bowlers to help keep their energy up while they support a great cause.

News and Notes From District 6380
Dear Assistant Governors: As Water Resource Person for the District, I am hoping you will help me to find a Water Resource Person from each club. This person might like to attend the Rotary Water Conference on February 19 in Grand Rapids but does not have to go. I will use them to keep the clubs up to date on water issues. There are more going to the conference this year than ever and we plan to sit together at lunch so please tell anyone that is going to let me know.

District Announces 2009/2010 District Governor
From Gerry Jackson: It is my pleasure to share with District 6380 that earlier this evening our District Nominating Committee selected Judy Garver, current member and Past President of the West Bloomfield Rotary Club, Past President of the Auburn Hills Rotary Club, and past member of the Southfield Rotary Club, as our Designate to become District 6380 Governor for the 2009-2010 Rotary Year.
Howell Rotary Immediate Past President, Carol Griffith is part of the selection committee and sends this report:I was part of the interview committee. This was interesting! Judy Garver will serve the District well! The other candidate was great too. From this process I gleaned more about the future of RI and the concerns/challenges that affect District 6380. This was/is a 3 year commitment to serve on this committee-I am hoping that I can bring any ideas back to our Club. Gerry Jackson is really positive about the Howell Rotary Club.
District 6380 Rotary Foundation Roadshow
The District 6380 Rotary Foundation Roadshow on Monday, February 5, at 6:15 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at NCMS, Ann Arbor.
We are aiming for every area Club to be well-represented.
Led by PDG Jeff Lichty (District Rotary Foundation Chair) this event is for any area Rotarian interested in doing world community service projects, learning about simplified grants and/or matching grants or joining other clubs in local or international projects, or to any member who would like to learn more about The Rotary Foundation. In particular we are inviting Club Presidents &/or President Elects, International service chairs, Club Foundation chairs, Literacy Committee chairs and Water Committee chairs who would really benefit from this meeting.
