Today's speaker is Evan Anderson-Smith, who is going to talk about his profession. Evan is an attorney who helps to restructure (usually) failing companies to make them profitable again. Each Rotarian should discuss his profession. This helps the club members to know our club members much better. So, if you cannot come up with a program, the club would enjoy hearing about your professional life.

1. Pope John Paul II died on Saturday after 24 years of moral leadership to the Roman Catholic Church and to the world. Henry Kissinger recently commented that the Pope had more to do with the fall of Communism and the Berlin Wall than anyone else. John Paul spoke many languages, visited many countries including those outside of Western Culture, and enjoyed the respect of world leaders everywhere.
2. There was a very good story in the Press and Argus about our friend Harry Griffith and his career in real estate.
3. Speaking of the Press and Argus, Mr. Power recently sold his holdings to Gannett Company. Probably nothing will change in the paper, at least in the near future.
4. Sports: North Carolina beat Michigan State last Saturday. This was too bad because State had done so much by beating Duke and Kentucky in thrilling games. But it was apparent that North Carolina had a better team last Saturday.
Playing the Championship Game (North Carolina vs. Illinois) on Monday at 9:10 is a bad move. Who can stay up until midnight to finish the game? Not many basketball fans who work the next day.
Baseball begins in Detroit today. The Tigers are expected to finish fourth in their division (out of five), but the team is slowly improving.
