Today, May 12, 2008: We have a Club Assembly to discuss the Bike Event, which will be a fundraiser to help the United Way.

Thanks to our President Elect Kim Dane and Jim Gilligan and our Steering Committee, this event has the potential to be one of the real "Signature Events of the Howell Rotary."
 
However, in the immortal words of the late Bo Shembechler, University of Michigan Football Coach, "The Team, The Team, The Team."
 
The success of the this event will depend on each and every member pitching in. We are going to need volunteers the day of the event, we are going to need to find sponsors we are going to need to spread the word. So, please bring your thoughts and ideas.


The Board of Directors will meet today at 1pm.


Thursday's Wine Tasting at the Wine Shop by the Opera House has been POSTPONED!

Next Week: NOTE that we meet at Parker High School (off of Pinckney Road) at 1 p.m.   This is a ONE O'CLOCK start.   We will honor Interact and the Top Ten scholars.

May 26: No Meeting.  It is Memorial Day.

 
Our 2008 Ladner Scholarship winner is Michelle Garrett. John Fellows represented Howell Rotary in presenting Michelle with the award last Thursday at the annual Scholarship Dinner at the High School. Nice job, John. And thanks for getting photos to the editor so promptly!

We Were Asked to Distribute the Following Letter from the Howell Board of Education
 
 

Dear Citizens:

 

As you are aware, the Howell Public Schools is in the process of selecting a new Superintendent.  As a part of the plan to select our next Superintendent, your School Board has solicited the professional expertise of TD and Associates to assist with this critical decision-making process.  An important element in the overall plan is to receive valuable input from community members.  Therefore, we are seeking ideas as to the characteristics you would like our new Superintendent to possess.

 

Although there may be a wide range of opinions regarding needed superintendent characteristics, Dr. Terre Davis, of TD and Associates, will submit your list of potential attributes to the Board of Education for assistance in finalizing the needed characteristics in our next Superintendent.  She will meet with community citizens at various times (see below) on Tuesday, May 13, 2008.
