Basketball: Is there anything more exciting than watching the NCAA College Basketball Tournament?  Exciting?  Heart-stopping?  Overwhelmingly thrilling?  Agonizing?  What can you say about Illinois, down by 15 points to Arizona with three minutes left, and the great comeback to force overtime and eventually win?  The Illini are now 36-1 and back into the Final Four to play Louisville.
Louisville were once down by 20 to West Virginia and came back to win in overtime.  One shot. One free throw.  One pass.  The difference between agony and ecstasy.

Okay, how about Michigan State beating two great teams: Duke and Kentucky.  You cannot play any more tradition and history than Duke and Kentucky, who have dominated college basketball.  Now State has to play the most famous basketball program of them all: North Carolina.  All the State fans had better check their pacemakers because these two teams will play a close game.

College basketball - with its one loss and you are out - is so much more exciting than professional basketball, with its long season of meaningless games and seven-game playoff series.  Pro ball will end in June, almost halfway through the baseball season.  Stifle your yawns.
