Today the Robin Ferriby, Doris Ostrander, and Lee Reeves will present "Building our future through the Community Foundation of Livingston County." The program is brought to us by Milt Sandling.
After the meeting, there will be a Board Meeting.

A special thanks to Carol and the Board for last week's Annual Dinner. It has received enormous praise for its elegance and warmth. Its recognition of various Rotarians for their efforts and continuous service to Rotary is long overdue.
It is June 19, and the Tigers are still in first place in their division. They have already surpassed victory total of three years ago. Go get 'em Tigers!

As our Rotary year draws to a close and clubs prepare for their end of the year or President's Night Banquets,we begin to think and hear about Paul Harris Fellows,
Some of our newer fellow Rotarians may not even know what this is...and some of our older Rotarians are not quite sure--or even may be mistaken!
Let's start at the beginning.
In 1947 when Paul Harris died, RI asked that individuals and clubs wishing to honor the founder, make gifts in his name to The Rotary Foundation--suggesting $10.00 per member. Money poured in from all over the world. By 1948, contributions exceeded $1,775,000. TRF quickly became the successful program that had been predicted it could be.
However, by 1951, donations had begun to decline and the Trustees came up with one of the most significant ideas in Rotary history. They announced that anyone who contributed $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation would become a Paul Harris Fellow. Paul Harris Fellows were presented with a plaque (now a certificate), a medallion and a lapel pin----all bearing the founder's likeness.
Since then Rotarians have contributed more than $1.5 billion. There are more than 900,000 Paul Harris Fellows with new Fellows being added at a rate of 45,000 a year. This well may be the year that the 1,000,000th Fellow will be attained. It could be YOU!!
It is important to note that although clubs can chose to honor a member by making a donation in his/her name, it is not meant to be a reward. Anyone can chose to honor himself, a spouse, a child, a relative, a friend, or an important person in the community ..it does not have to be Rotarian. To donor and recipient alike the Paul Harris Recognition is an honor and a privilege ---and carries with it the knowledge that a contribution has been made to TRF in his/her name. In addition, one can become a multiple Paul Harris Fellow by making subsequent $1000 contributions to TRF.
