Howell Rotary News – June 13, 2011
Monday’s meeting is a PICNIC AT WEST STREET PARK – see you there! We’ll have a low-key program with time to chat amongst fellow Rotarians. We just might also have some Melon Ice Cream to enjoy!
Last Monday we hosted “The Dance Project”, shared and performed by Jaimie Nicholson and her students. They shared their message about encouraging and teaching our youth alternative dance styles for our youth, building leadership skills, respect, and positive self-image. It was a really fun program!
Annual Meeting will be held on Monday, June 20th at the Howell Opera House, from noon-1:30. President Jeanne has sent e-invitations to everyone asking for RSVPs so we have a solid confirmation for our caterer. We hope you can join us as this is a time to celebrate the many accomplishments from the past year. If you haven’t let Jeanne know yet, please do so soon. We’re planning a special program and meal, with no extra cost to our members (50/50’s, fines, etc. will be covering these additional costs.) If you’d like to bring a spouse or other special guest, the cost would be $10 per person.
President Jeanne will be officially turning over the gavel to incoming President Steve Manor. We’re excited to hear what Steve and his team have planned for our new Rotary year that begins July 1st, 2011.
Congratulations to John and Martha Hubbel who are celebrating 50 years of wedded bliss!
Looking Ahead –
The 2011 Tour de Livingston will officially Kick-Off on Sunday, June 26th. We’re looking forward to hosting 50+ people in downtown Howell ~ 6:30-7 a.m. and riding down Grand River to the Balloonfest Fly In. It’s the perfect venue to showcase our town and two great events! We’ll need a few people to help out with registration; if you’re able to join us, please let Jeanne Clum know. Another way to show your support would be to drive up to enjoy the fly-in and greet the bicyclists as they stop for the Balloonfest festivities.

The Howell Rotary Club is parking cars at the upcoming Michigan Challenge Balloonfest, June 24, 25 and 26th. Candy Jones-Guerin is working with the Howell Chamber and has some special time frames open for our club members. Please connect with Candy (candyjonesguerin@hughes.net) and sign up ASAP – these shifts go quickly!
The Livingston County United Way’s Day of Caring is August 17th. We need a Howell Rotarian to take the lead for our club’s involvement that day. We can choose to be involved in the morning, afternoon, or all day. This has been a very rewarding day for those who’ve participated in the past.
